2.12.010 Library board of trustees.

A. The Colleton County public library system shall be controlled and managed by the board of trustees consisting of not fewer than seven nor more than eleven (11) members appointed by the county council for terms of four years and until successors are appointed and qualify except that of those members initially appointed; one-half of such appointees less one shall be appointed for terms of two years only. Previous service on a county library board prior to the enactment of the ordinance codified in this chapter establishing the board shall not limit service on the board. Vacancies shall be filled by the county council for an unexpired term. To the extent feasible, members shall be appointed form all geographical areas of the county.
B. The board shall every two years elect a chairman, vice chairman, secretary, treasurer and such other officers as it deems necessary. The board shall meet not less than four times each year and at other times as called by the chairman or upon the written request by a majority of the members.
C. Notwithstanding the provisions of subsections A and B of this section, members of any county library board serving an unexpired term when the new board is created by this chapter pursuant to the provisions of such subsections A and B shall continue to serve on the board until the expiration of such unexpired term, or until July 1, 1982, whichever date is earlier regardless of the numerical composition of the newly created board.
