Chapter 2.20 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM
2.20.030 New district--Purpose and function.
The new district is created and established for the purpose
and function of providing a means of financing fire protection and rescue
services therein and the council is authorized to exercise all powers provided
by law and to perform all duties necessary to the proper rendering of fire
protection and rescue services within the new district, including the
appropriation of funds for the operation and maintenance of the new district
through an annual levy and collection of ad valorem taxes upon all taxable
property within the new district. The council is further authorized, to the
extent and in the manner provided by law, to cause the issuance of general
obligation bonds of the county for the benefit of, but not limited to, the
construction and/or acquisition of facilities and of equipment, for the
repayment of which bonds there shall be levied and collected an annual ad
valorem tax upon all taxable property located within the new district. (Ord.
