2.36.060 Organization, meetings, rules, staff and finances.

A. Commission members shall meet within thirty days of their appointment for the selection of officers. They shall elect a chairman and vice-chairman from among the members. The term of the chairman and other officers shall be one year with eligibility for re-election.
B. The commission shall appoint a secretary who may be a member of the commission or a person employed by the commission to perform those functions.
C. The commission shall adopt rules and by-laws for the transaction of business and shall keep a record of its recommendations, transactions, findings and determinations. It shall set regular meetings, and the chairman or a majority of commission members may call special meetings as deemed necessary. All meetings of the commission shall be open to the public, and records of the commission shall be a public record.
D. The commission may appoint such employees and staff as it may deem necessary for its work and make expenditures for salaries of any employees and staff, contracts with consultants, and for the purpose of required equipment and supplies. Costs of commission operations, including gifts and grants, shall be within the budget approved for such purpose by Colleton County council. (Ord. 98-O-9 § 6, 1998)
