2.64.060 Coordination with departments.

Any acts or decisions of the safety committee, which impact a particular department’s/office’s operations, shall be coordinated with the appropriate department/office head to the greatest extent practical.
In instances where departments have internal committees performing investigative/inspection functions, the safety committee shall accept the final report and findings of the department with only routine analysis in conjunction with supporting evidence provided through the risk manager. In the event that the department’s report omits important information or is questioned by a majority of the safety committee, the department head will be asked to brief the committee in full. The committee may choose to issue an alternate opinion if the department’s internal report remains questionable after the department head has briefed the committee or if the department head refuses to provide a verbal briefing.
Department heads and supervisors may attend and present opinions and/or evidence during any proceeding affecting any property under their direct authority or any person in their employ as indicated in personnel records or other official documentation, so long as such attendance is relevant to the proceedings, is orderly, and is not contrary to the basic purposes of the safety committee as defined in this chapter. Meetings shall be open to all county employees when possible. (Ord. 02-O-15 § 6, 2002)
