Chapter 2.72 LOWCOUNTRY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS
2.72.010 Term lengths and membership qualifications for appointees.
A. All members shall serve without compensation and shall be
residents of Colleton County. Three appointees shall be selected from among the
elected officials of the county; one appointee will be nominated by and from the
members of the council of the city of Walterboro; and the other two shall be
selected by county council to represent a cross-section of the
community.
B. Elected county officials may continue to serve on the LCOG
board as long as they remain in office.
C. The member nominated by the council of the city of
Walterboro shall serve according to the term lengths established by that
council.
D. The two members selected by council from the community
will serve for four year terms. In order to stagger these terms, the first
appointments shall be made as follows: one member for a two year term and one
member for a four year term; with these term lengths to be determined by the
drawing of straws.
E. If a vacancy occurs, county council shall fill the vacancy
by appointment for the unexpired term. (Ord. 96-O-16, 1996)
