Chapter 6.04 ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL REGULATIONS
6.04.120 Injured or dead animals.
A. Any person who strikes a pet or domestic animal with a
motor vehicle or bicycle and injures or kills the animal must immediately
attempt to notify the owner of said animal of the injury or death. If the owner
cannot be found, the person who struck the animal shall immediately notify
animal care and control. Animal care and control shall then take the necessary
steps to provide for the proper treatment or disposal of the animal.
B. The owner of any animal, which is killed or dies, shall
immediately provide for its burial or cremation when the death and the location
of the carcass are known. If the owner fails to do so within twelve (12) hours,
the animal control officer shall arrange for the disposal, and the owner shall
be required to pay a fine of two hundred dollars ($200.00). In the case of
livestock or other large animals, the minimum fine shall be five hundred dollars
