Chapter 9.24 NOISE CONTROL
9.24.010 Unlawful noise designated.
A. It is unlawful for any person to create, permit, continue,
or permit the continuance of any unreasonable, loud noise which either disturbs,
injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others
within Colleton County.
B. It is further unlawful for any person to operate, play or
cause or permit to be played any sound producing or sound amplifying device in
such manner as to be noisy or audible in any public place or any vehicle,
dwelling or building other than the premises or vehicle wherein such apparatus
is being operated.
C. Such sounds or noises which are plainly audible from a
distance of fifty (50) feet or more from their source shall be considered prima
facie evidence of a violation of subsections A and B of this section. Special
consideration shall be afforded to persons suffering from a hearing
impairment.
D. The complaints of three or more persons, or of one or more
persons, when combined with the complaint of a law enforcement officer, is prima
facie evidence that a sound regulated by this chapter disturbs, injures or
endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others in violation of
