Chapter 11.12 ROAD NAMING AND ADDRESSING GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES
11.12.060 Road name signs.
A. A road name sign shall be provided at each intersection
for all roads that meet the provisions of this chapter, whether government
maintained or private. Each sign post will identify both intersecting
streets.
B. Sign Colors.
1. State, county, and municipal roads shall be identified by
a green colored reflective sign with white high-intensity reflective
letters.
2. Private roads meeting the provisions of this chapter,
having two or more addressable structures shall be identified with a blue
colored reflective sign with white high- intensity reflective letters.
3. Disputes related to county or private ownership of a road,
shall be directed to Colleton County public works.
C. Signs shall display the official approved road name in a
minimum of four-inch high letters beginning at the left edge of the sign. The
road classification shall be displayed in a minimum of two-inch high letters.
The numerical address range shall appear in a minimum of two-inch high numbers.
A minimum of a two-inch border shall be reserved at the right edge to allow for
a yellow reflective "no outlet" identification strip as needed to identify roads
with no exit. (See sample in Exhibit A.)
D. Road classifications in the unincorporated areas of
Colleton County will be determined by the 9-1-1 department following the
guidelines as specified in Section 11.12.090, approved abbreviations for street
designations and road classifications.
E. After final approval, either by default or by petition,
road name signs will be erected as soon as possible, based on availability of
materials, manpower and delivery. (Ord. 99-O-30 §§ 6.0--6.4,
