Our mission statement is to locate, identify, map, classify, appraise and assess residential, commercial, agricultural and vacant property in Colleton County for ad valorem taxation within the guidelines of the SC Code of Laws, SC Department of Revenue regulations and Colleton County Ordinances.

Our responsibilities also include:

• Providing other departments, outside agencies, utilities providers and the general public with current real estate information;
• Conducting informal hearings and participating in formal hearing and Administrative Law judge hearings for real estate assessment appeals by property owners;
• Providing annual real estate assessments to the County Auditor;
• Reappraisal and reassessment of all property every five years in accordance with Section 12-43-217 of the SC Code of Laws.
