Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position Of Senior IT Technician. Under
limited supervision is responsible for IT systems (including but not limited to server, network and PC) support
functions necessary to sustain the services used by the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office. Serves as a resource to
others in the resolution of a myriad of technical issues of varying complexity. Requires thorough knowledge of
IT system diagnostics and repair techniques, competency with network and domain administration tools, and
capable of supporting all new and existing technology systems in the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office. Will serve
as a resource in the resolution of software application problems/failures; act as liaison between users and system
providers; manages installation of software updates; tests/troubleshoots following such installations; provides
guidance/assistance to users in response to verbal/written questions on proper use, appropriate procedures, and
operations; generates, receives, and reviews technical resolutions, verifying for completeness and accuracy, and
initiating corrections when required, etc. Responsible for training new users the basics of software and maintains
a technical knowledge base of problem resolutions. Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Windows Server
operating systems, web services, and database tools and should have basic familiarity with Windows SQL Server.
Must have knowledge of or ability to learn network connectivity and basic concepts with network hardware and
basic troubleshooting tactics, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the
required skills, knowledge and abilities. Reports to the Colleton County sheriff. More specific duties upon request
from the Colleton County Sheriffs office.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, network administration, or related field to include
instruction in computer software, hardware, and operating systems is preferred. Knowledge and experience in
configuring and maintaining network devices (i.e. switches, firewalls, routers etc.). Or have five years training
or experience in computer software, hardware, and operating systems, computer diagnostic and repair techniques,
network and telephone wiring techniques, and training and development techniques or any equivalent
combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
