Out of an abundance of caution, Colleton County Government Offices to includes Colleton County Solid Waste Convenience Sites and Landfill will remain closed until Tuesday, February 2. The regularly scheduled Colleton County Council Meeting for Monday, February 2 has been postponed until Monday, February 9.
The snow has stopped, and forecasters are not predicting any additional precipitation. As of Sunday Morning, Colleton County is under and Extreme Cold Warning which will expire around 11 am and we expect a Extreme Cold Watch issued from 6 PM through Monday morning. Temperatures will get above freezing today, which will allow for snow melt and the potential for black ice to develop in the overnight hours. Travel is not suggested and officials are encouraging all Colleton County residents to, Stay Home, Stay Safe. A Warming Shelter will be opened at St. Judes Church, 907 Wichman Street, from 6 PM - 8 AM from 1/30 - 2/3. Transportation is not provided and pets are not permitted.
