- Informs the general public about registration and elections procedures, maintains department records, coordinates ballot and voting machine distribution, and ensures the integrity and accuracy of all activities, and tabulations.
- Plans and administers the voter registration process.
- Conducts all elections such as primary, general, special, municipal, referenda and run-offs. Ensures that polls open and close at designated times and that votes are counted in a reasonable timeframe after polls are closed.
- Sets up and conducts absentee voting process
- Implements recruitment and training programs to ensure an adequate pool of trained polling managers and election workers for elections.
- Plans and coordinates with County government departments as well as state and federal agencies.
Colleton County has established one early voting center at their main office located at 2471 Jefferies Hwy in Walterboro.
