Register of Deeds

The Colleton County Register of Deeds Office or ROD is a recording and public records preservation office. The primary function of the ROD Office is to record, maintain, and preserve all land records for the County and make them readily available for viewing by the public. All recording of documents must be in accordance with South Carolina Laws and County Ordinances. Documents recorded include, but are not limited to, Deeds, Mortgages, Easements, Satisfactions, Power of Attorneys, Liens, Plats, Uniform Commercial Code filings, and other real property transactions.

The ROD Office maintains public computers for document lookup and to also provide access to certain Assessor’s Office and Court files.

The ROD Staff cannot perform title/record searches for the public, but we are happy to assist by showing you where our Record Books, Indices, Plat Books and public computers are located and briefly explaining how to use them to find the information you need.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

No, The Register of Deeds office does not notarize documents.
