January 24, 2025 - The Small Business Administration (SBA) approved SBA loan assistance for victims from the November Edisto River Flooding (November 2024).  The deadline to apply for physical damages to your home is March 24, 2025 and the deadline to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans for businesses is October 22, 2025.  More information is available here.  Apply by clicking the "Apply for SBA Disaster Loans" button above or go to www.sba.gov/disaster. USDA Includes Colleton County Farmers in Disaster Declaration

The USDA included Colleton County in the disaster declaration for emergency loan assistance for farms that received damage from Hurricane Helene. Eligible family farmers may qualify for Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency (EM) loan assistance. Eligible farmers will have until June 6, 2025 to apply for loan assistance. The USDA-FSA offers multiple Disaster Assistance Programs to assist farmers in South Carolina. For additional information call the USDA Farm Service Agency at 803-806-3820.

SBA DLOC Announcement
The Small Business Administration will have personnel in place at the Colleton County Tax Payer Center which is located at 118 Benson Street in Walterboro.
The Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) will open on Monday, September 30th at 11 am and will close Saturday, October 5th at 2 PM.
The DLOC hours of operation are as follows:
Monday (9/30) 11 am - 5 pm
Tuesday (10/1) 8 am - 5 pm
Wednesday (10/2) 8 am - 5 pm
Thursday (10/3) 8 am - 5 pm
Friday (10/4) 8 am - 5 pm
Saturday (10/5)10 am - 2 pm
SBA Disaster Declaration
We have not received word regarding our Individual Assistance (IA) Disaster Declaration as of yet.  However, Berkeley and Orangeburg counties requested a Small Business Administration (SBA) Declaration due to their lower levels of damaged properties.  Late this afternoon, we were notified that they received the SBA Declaration, which covers several adjacent counties, including Colleton.
 
We will be coordinating with SCEMD to open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) with plans to add Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) resources should we receive
Colleton County Recovery Efforts Underway - Cleaning Supplies Available

Basic flood/cleaning buckets are now available for Colleton County residents who have been affected by flooding. The buckets are ready for distribution at Colleton County Fire-Rescue’s Station #36. CCFR Station #36 is located at 19576 Augusta Highway. The buckets will be available today, until 5 PM and tomorrow, Augusta 15, from 8 AM to 5 PM, while supplies last.

Despite Colleton County receiving record rainfall, two EF-1 tornadoes and the highest Edisto river levels since 1945, we are happy to report there have been no injuries or deaths so far as a result of TS Debby.
