A pillar of the Lowcountry construction industry has announced its expansion into Colleton County with an investment of $11,750,000 and the creation of 20 new jobs. Banks Construction Company, a third generation heavy highway contractor headquartered in North Charleston, will bring a new state-of-the-art asphalt production facility to the Colleton Venture Park located on Industrial Road in Walterboro.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue was awarded the 2024 Fire Safe Community Designation by the South Carolina Fire Marshal's Office. This is the fourth year in a row Colleton County Fire-Rescue has received this prestigious award.
