Recording/Processing Clerk

Register of Deeds

Colleton County Government is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Recording/Processing Clerk in the Register of Deeds Office.  The successful candidate will under general supervision, record land records and other legal documents as required by the laws of the State of South Carolina. Duties will also include, but not be limited to, cashiering, data entry and a variety of clerical duties in support of the Register of Deeds Office. 

Requires a high school diploma and one to two years’ clerical/data entry experience or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Successful candidate must possess strong computer skills, familiarity with office equipment, strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional and courteous service to the public at all times.  Familiarity with legal documents a plus.  Pre-employment drug screen and a satisfactory background check is also required.
